Nine Other States Facing Budget Crisis of Par With California. A new Pew analysis has found that nine other states are on the edge of financial disaster and urges state legislatures to act quickly. The report identifies Michigan, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin as states in dire fiscal situations. These states all rely heavily on one type of industry, a history of persistent budget shortfalls.
