Bipartisan Senate “Gang of Six” Health Care Negotiators to Talk by Phone on September 4th

The group of six Finance negotiators include Finance Chairman Baucus(D-MT) and Ranking Member Grassley (R-IA), Democratic Senators Jeff Bingaman (N.M.) and Kent Conrad (N.D.), and Republican Mike Enzi (WY) and Olympia Snowe (ME). The group met once during the August recess, with no breakthroughs in the talks. The call is rumored to be the means of “jump starting” talks on Finance health care legislation following the August recess. The Senate Finance Committee expects to unveil its health care proposal by September 15th.
