State Budget Updates

Following the passage of the Indiana state budget, Family and Social Service Agency Secretary Anne Murphy has assured Indiana provider association, INARF, that there would not be a 5% reduction in Medicaid rates, although no written language was included in the budget. Other senior officials indicated the ability to continue aggressively taking people off the waiting list.

Colorado ended their 2008/2009 legislative session with no reduction to community services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Both Indiana and Colorado note that their budgets would not have been preserved with out the temporary increase in FMAP from the Recovery Act. Indiana received $2.4 billion in Recovery Act funding. The total stimulus revenue available for the state budget is $2.4 billion, $1.4 billion for Medicaid and one billion dollars for fiscal stabilization.
